WRITING OBSTACLE

Inspired by Kail Cleo

The days of the week are based on real people's character traits. Describe a day of the week through a character.

For example, Monday might be depressed, while Friday might love partying!

Tuesday

The walk home was long and monotonous. Tuesday felt his day drag into as the sky changed from blue to pink to a burnt orange. Nothing happened. The day passed as every other did and yet he hoped somehow it might be different. Maybe excitement would grip him. Drag him off his weary feet and usher him into a hope for a brighter tomorrow.

The sidewalks were cold and quiet. The winter wind brushed his cheeks as he continued his way back home. The trees stood bare as the snow began to dust their branches. For once, he stopped to see their beauty. The white powder clung to the hibernating trees limbs and found rest in their barrenness.

The sounds of singing woke him from his trance as the children gathered singing songs of merry and cheer. He heard their laughter in between the music. Their joy erupting like melody for the world to hear and enjoy.

He could feel his heart begin to beat. Though his time was nearly over he found some beauty in the monotony of it all. Maybe his life wasn’t just one to speed through, but one to stop and enjoy. He took a breath and savored it. Maybe he wasn’t just another day of the week. Maybe he, and the others too, all had something unique. Maybe they were all meant to find the little moments like this. The heat of joy in the midst of the cold rush of the week. A time to breathe and see the beauty that was all around us.

His feet regained their steps as the snow crunched under his feet. He still had places to be and Wednesday still had a sunrise to see. Maybe next time he’ll stop and see what life is really all about.
