STORY STARTER
Put your music player on shuffle and skip seven songs. The song it lands on is the title of your story or poem.
Don’t Call Tonight
You only talk to me
when it’s convenient for you
Like I’m a house plant
that you only water
when you remember about it
You only talk to me
when you have a problem
Like I’m your personal crisis hotline
that you only dial
when you need it
You only talk to me
when you’re bored
Like I’m your court jester
that you only entertain
when you want to laugh
So don’t call tonight
because I won’t pick up
I’ve learned to value my peace

(This song title is by Lady Gaga. I was surprised because I forgot that song was in my playlist. I made it into my feelings about my (former?) best friend. Even though she reached out after my last couple poems about this sort of best friend breakup, I still don’t feel like we’re friends. Like it’s back to where I always am asking how she’s doing and she gives like one word responses. 🤷🏻♀️)
