POEM STARTER

The Revelation

Write a poem with a structured rhyme scheme, using this as the title.

The Revelation

A kiss.

One would think

is the simplest bliss.

But it’s brought me to the brink

of tears.

Holding back salt

and fears.

Is it my fault?

I encouraged it.

Simply, the idea was nice.

But without connection, I admit,

it didn’t suffice

Time hadn’t stretched far enough.

Fissures still throbbed in my chest.

For I hadn’t called my own bluff.

Thought perhaps I had put it all to rest.

But that kiss.

That naive simple act

forced me to reminisce,

and I cracked.
