POEM STARTER
Write an elegy about the death of something other than a person.
An elegy is a sad poem, traditionally expressing sorrow for someone who has passed away.
Hiding Happy
You can never really tell when it’ll happen, when a certain something will die
It’s not a human, it’s not an animal
But the death of something can kill a living being, the death of feeling happy.
Happiness is what keeps most going, take that feeling away?
When your happy begins to shrivel and die, your body becomes a husk of dark emotions
Your mind turns black, your eyes turn red
The death of joy can end a human, it ends life.
But that is a harsh truth, one many don’t want to hear
Afterall just because your not happy doesn’t mean you can be selfish, not at all
It’s not selfish though, in fact it’s selfless.
You hide away your soul, you hide so you won’t hurt others around you
You hurt yourself In exchange for the pain of others
But happiness doesn’t kill, it just stops
It just stops, like the heart of one with no more joy left to fill them up.
