Write about a character leaving something, or someone, they love.
Moving
You’re walking down a path. On either side is a field. At first glance, the left field looks peaceful and beautiful. As you look deeper, there is something sinister, yet comforting. The left field is clear, so why would you move on? Why would you leave the comfort of trauma and step into the future? The right field is dark and foggy, you can’t see the through the thick smoke. It’s scary. So you enter the left field. You are swept off your feet by strong gusts of wind. You realise your mistake, you do this all the time. You fall back into old patterns, relapsing the things you swore to yourself you would never do again. The whirlwind of the past dissever your thoughts from logical and illogical to a messy muddle of word that even you cant make out. In an hour or two you’ll be back in the move, always chasing who you want, always cutting just for fun. Are you paralysed by your demons at night? Always coming after you, always wanting something new. You try to hide it but everyone knows, so you can stop pretending. Moving onto the right field, stepping into the future is hard. Almost impossible; the thought of not knowing what is next fills you with so much adrenaline that is wells up into anxiety, that creeps up your spine. But if you carry the same bricks from your past, you will build the same house. Which is why you don’t need to pick a field, just keep walking until you cant anymore.
