POEM STARTER

Submitted by XOXO, Z A I N 🩵

“Clouds cover the skies, rain pulls at your eyes,

but nothing hurts as much as little words turned lies'

Use this stanza as either part of, or inspiration for a poem.

Lies in the skies

Clouds cover the skies,

Rain pulls at your eyes,

But nothing hurts as much

As little words turned lies.

They came like petals, soft and light,

Whispers in the hush of night,

Promising the kind of truth

That even silence dared not fight.

You held them close, you let them bloom,

Wove them into every room

Your breath, your skin, your hopeful spine,

Not knowing rot would come in time.

Clouds cover the skies,

Rain pulls at your eyes,

But nothing breaks the heart

Like a gentle voice that dies.

It wasn’t the storm or the thunder’s scream,

Not the shattering of a fragile dream

It was the way the smallest phrase

Could burn through days and strip you clean.

So now you walk, a quieter soul,

Each footstep searching for control,

But still you flinch when someone tries

To offer love in lullaby.

Clouds cover the skies,

Rain pulls at your eyes,

And deep inside, a silence cries

For little words turned lies.

This is amazing, I especially love the flower metaphor!
