STORY STARTER
"Everybody wants to judge, but nobody wants to listen."
Write about a character who is going through a typically stigmatised situation. As an added challenge, try to write from the perspective of the opposite gender to yourself.
What I Didn’t Say to Tefi
Something about her always caught my attention.
And it was her loudness.
Way too loud—just so she could be heard.
I never understood why she acted so extra in my eyes.
Yet somehow, she seemed like one of the most beautiful,
funniest, and most lovable people to exist.
That’s when I realized—
She’s a broken girl.
One who carries so much insecurity,
thinking no one could ever truly love her.
I saw her crying by herself.
I saw her laughing,
like I was watching her inner child take a breath.
And I feel like a fool.
Because I played with her emotions—
bit by bit.
I took all the love she gave and treated it like it meant nothing.
We all saw her as a joke,
when she was the most real one among us.
She acts tough,
but in her quiet corners,
she lets herself feel.
Every time we talk and she opens up,
I feel so awful.
Why?
Why can’t I show her love?
Why can’t I treat her the way she deserves?
Did I really make her feel like she was nothing?
I keep chasing someone else,
when this beautiful, bright girl was always right in front of me.
And once again…
I dismissed her feelings.
She’s an angel.
She’s the sun.
And honestly…
I don’t deserve her.
