WRITING OBSTACLE
In a short scene, how can your protagonist say “I won’t forget you” without literally saying the words “I won’t forget you”?
In My Case
The rain stopped as I woke up. I look to the other side of the room thinking I might hear you rustling around trying to find your work stuff. I often wonder if you would still be doing it now? I feel the tears swell.
“Not today, brain. I have too much work to let my emotions pierce me like this.” It is all I can tell myself everyday now. This isn’t a pleasant experience. To know what you once had, the connection to another soul, has withered to nothing is the truest death of a soul. All that is left of my past life are the memories that I’ve chosen to keep locked away, because the rest is too painful. I wear these moments like a necklace around my neck. But some days, in my case, it becomes a noose.
