Betrayal
I sat at my desk completing homework. Unecessary. Boring. But important nonetheless. Day was falling into night, I checked my phone for the time. 7:23. As I went to glance outside a cheerful ding resonated in my room followed by the light of a phone screen. I looked, it was a social media post from a family member. My grandma, she posted a memory of my family visiting her. The sight made my eyes threaten to spill over with tears.
But the caption made me feel hot. My heart twisted in anger and my breathing quickened as my grip on the phone became crushing.
“Missing our grandkids hugs!”
A single word came to mind;
