POEM STARTER
Submitted by Peyton Headrick
Write a Haiku expressing the paradox of trust, being capable of great beauty and great harm.
How will you use this very short poetic form to portray such a concept?
•|•Rose•|•
Like a rose,
thorns unfold.
Blood spill at the slightest prick.
~
Beauty twisted into a dark snarl.
Yet there’s that sweet smile.
Knife behind her back.
~
As pretty as a flower,
The softest touch.
Oh such a sweet little thing.
~
Yet soon the roses won’t be white,
For they’ll be red.
Since beauty is the deadliest illusion.
