POEM STARTER
Write a poem that is grotesquely romantic.
This could mean a poem that’s overly lovey-dovey, one that has a romantic theme but grotesque imagery, or something else altogether.
Prisoner
I sold my soul
but not to the devil
for it is an angel
to whom I now belong
I stopped being my own
the moment she saw me
and decided it is I
that she would possess
Now that I say it aloud
perhaps she is not
as innocent
as I had assumed
She wraps around me
her wings, my shield
to protect me
from the harsh world
But also, could they be
a cage, to keep me close
so that I may never escape
her beautiful embrace
I have decided
I do not truly care
I will remain happily in her hold
a prisoner to her love
