WRITING OBSTACLE
Write a 100-word description of your main character's physical appearance.
Consider which features are most important to mention; which might factor into the story, or change the way the reader, and other characters, interact with your protagonist?
character description
When Fallon finally catches a glimpse of herself in a mirror, it draws her in closer for further inspection. She knew of the light freckles that dotted across her nose and along the apples of her cheeks, the ones that used to redden at the slightest hint of embarrassment. She recognized the mixture of green and brown that circled around her pupil. The darkness of her hair was familiar, but the length reaching down to her elbows was a brand new sight.
Another aspect of her reflection that was not known to her — the blank expression that sat firmly upon her face. No joy, no frustration, not even a hint of boredom or nervousness. The face she remembered had plenty of those things, all imbedded into the uptick of the corners of her lips, or the furrow of her brows, or the horizontal lines that dug themselves into her forehead whenever she felt shocked or excited.
None of that existed in her reflection now.
And this brought the question:
How could this possibly be herself staring back at her, if everything that made her feel like a person was no longer there?
