Waking Up
Faye never liked the dark. She never liked not knowing stuff - how there could always be something out of her reach. When she woke up in an unfamiliar room, her mind started to panic. Where was she? The fluorescent lights were dimly buzzing; casting a soft spotlight over the mirror in the far right corner. Breathe in, breathe out, she told herself. Her slow, steady footsteps echoed amongst the torn walls. Shadows were drowning her, engulfing her in a sense of confusion and desperation that she had never experienced before. Long tables had been flipped and scattered across the floor, hospital beds undressed and ripped apart. Whatever had happened here, she thought to herself, could very well have killed her.
