POEM STARTER
The sky full of stars seemed dead and cold; a place once so magical now hurt to behold.
Write a rhyming poem that ends with this line.
Lost Wishes
Oh wonderous magic of stars burning bright,
For all of the wishes whispered into the night.
Like all those before me I hope and I pray,
A simple wish from the heavens to hold you someday.
I counted the days and thought only of you,
Knew every month which month you’d be due.
I carefully observed every swelling and sway,
And knew as the weeks passed that you were now on your way.
And there in that room we see you at last,
The moment is fleeting, now gone too fast.
There you are sweetly a dream coming true,
And there you are sweetly, awfully still.
And there is no beating, no fluttering flick.
No shift and no movement as slow minutes tick.
At home and in bed I look out at the night,
And wonder how one could look upon without fright.
The sky full of stars seemed dead and cold;
A place once so magical now hurt to behold.
