VISUAL PROMPT
Prompt submitted by Tenshi

Write a poem about what streetlights make you think of.
Never See the Sun Again
On nights like this,
I think i'd be just fine to never see the sun again.
Because the night is alive-
with your laugh is in my ear
and her shoulder pressed into mine.
Lights cut through the dark like stars,
so bright I forget it was ever dark at all.
I think i'd be just fine to never see the sun again.
I never knew we could escape
without leaving.
Our steps sync against the pavement,
like our hearts syncing in beat-
a symphony to the senses.
Blinding street lights against the night sky, the warm air from the day lingering in our noses, a thousand crickets singing.
Did we leave? Were we ever here at all?
The three of us exist infinitely in this moment,
and yes,
I think i'd be just fine to never see the sun again.
