POEM STARTER
Write a poem that is grotesquely romantic.
This could mean a poem that’s overly lovey-dovey, one that has a romantic theme but grotesque imagery, or something else altogether.
Grossly Romantic
Grotesquely romantic, now what does that mean?
Some lovey-dovey scenes shown on the big screen?
Or it is the love between two zombies gory?
Is it some beautiful scene from some great love story?
Is it romance we have never seen in real life?
The one that is wholy without stress, without strife?
Or is it the romance between two people in love?
One that is ordained from heaven above?
The one that sees stresses and strife day by day?
The one that survives, but you say, “What they hey?”
The one where the husband elevates his wife?
The one where the two are a couple for life?
The one where the two walk hand-in-hand day by day?
The one where the two become one as they say?
The one where the kids peek as their parents kiss?
The one where it seems like their life is pure bliss?
That is grotesquely romantic because it is not the norm
That a man and a woman would ride out every storm
They live for each other, for their kids, and for God
And the world thinks that is gross; they think it is odd
It is grossly romantic, it would not sell any show
But I will take grossly romantic, in my life, I know.
