Last chance for you to answer
She kept talking and talking but what she was saying was not the truth.
I growled inwardly, "Kelsie! You have one last chance to tell me what you were doing with him?" She froze and I realized this wasn't the girl I dated, this wasn't the girl that promised we would be forever unless... She never loved me at all. She was just using me. I closed my eyes, the pain was effecting me.
"Get out." I knew the answer and I didn't want to hear it from her.
"But Charlie-"
"I SAID GET OUT!" I couldn't control the anger that had builded up inside of me for years. My eyes were flickering into the bloody red and it scared me. Her demeanor changed and she looked like a wicked witch with the devious smile.
"Oh, are you going to cry?" She cackled as she watched the pain pour from my eyes. The door twisted open and my mom was there, her calming eyes looked at me with concern. Kelsie suddenly looked hurt and fell dramatically to the ground.
"Oh! He hit-"
"Don't say a word." My mom's voice filled my room and I felt little better. Mom picked up Kelsie by her arm and looked directly in her eyes, it made her shudder.
"Did you hurt Charlie?" Mom held her serious expression. Kelsie didn't say anything, she was scared. Mom pulled Kelsie, gently by her arm to the door. I ended up in the hallway with Dad and Maddie, my little sister who was asleep on his shoulder.
"You are no longer allowed in my house, Kelsie." Mom said as she opened the door for her.
Kelsie froze, "But Mrs. Midnight, he started it!" I felt the coldness hit my heart and a stumbled backward a bit, Dad held my back for support.
"We got your back, Char." Was all he said. Mom cleared her throat and held the door tightly.
"And you ended it, Kelsie." A minute of silence fell between them before Mom said, "Have a safe trip home." And she closed the door. I could hear Kelsie's defeated scream and it made me chuckle. Mom came back and gave me a big bear hug. I normally would try to get out of it but right now, I needed it.
"I'm sorry, Charlie. If I would've known-"
"It's okay, Mom. It's not your fault." Dad ruffled my hair, gently.
"You can have some time off of school if you want." He lowered his voice. "Maybe even snatch your sister's ice cream-"
Mom slapped his arm, playfully.
"Chris! Don't say that!" We all laughed and I shook my head, "Don't worry Mom, I won't snatch her ice cream but I will consider time off.
Mom nodded, "Okay then but you will make-up work, right?"
"I will Mom." Mom and Dad smiled and they both said good night. I closed the door to my room and sat on my bed. A million questions were pouring out in my brain but I didn't do anything. I just stared into the night, taking in what happened with the so called "Love of my life."
