A Lie Hurts Worst From A Friend
Clouds cover the skies,
rain pulls at your eyes
But nothing hurts worse,
than words turned to lies
Was sixteen, naive,
my “friends” I believed
I was accepted,
much to my relief
I changed bit by bit,
though I’d never admit
I had to,
they’d never accept me unfit,
it wasn’t enough,
no more than just fluff
I hadn’t realized,
That life was this tough
I was too different,
insignificant
They’d more in common,
I was more distant
I forgave their wrongs,
our hangouts prolonged
And lied to myself,
that I still belonged
One day it just stopped,
our friendship they dropped
Like everything else,
the feelings I blocked
Until my brother,
asked one girls mother
Why’s Blaire ignoring Grace,
he said undercover
She’s out of control,
yes Blaire says of Grace
She flirts for the thrill,
what a family disgrace
Messes with secrets,
she’s clingy and bold
She’s got no respect,
she should be controlled
Yet nothing was true,
my anger it grew
Blaire was my best friend,
why’d she lie to you
In school alone,
if only I’d known
That it was all fake,
I wanted to groan
They laughed as I passed,
my stories they bashed,
I tried not to show,
my feelings aghast
Had I known the world,
the real world, unfurled
Showed more of the bad,
and less of the good
I’d never have tried,
they’d never have lied
I may could have saved,
those years that I cried,
Clouds cover the skies,
rain pulls at your eyes
But nothing hurts worse,
than words turned to lies
I don’t think this story fits into the poem format I used, but I hope it makes sense. Thank you for reading!
