A knock

That was all it took

And yet somehow,

I had been so caught up

I had never noticed IT before

IT, being ME

Sitting in the mirror

Waiting for ME to look up

To realize that I was there

Telling me to stop running from the THINGS

The THINGS were the shadows

Chasing ME everywhere

Around every corner i turned

Trying to get ME to notice

I was running away from MYSELF

MYSELF was all the things I didint want to be

Because I was so self conscious

Didint want people to see the real ME

Wanted them to look at the FAKE person

Because I needed FRIENDS

FRIENDS were the people who were also FAKE

Claiming to be people they weren’t

Using ME for THEIR use

FRIENDS was their disguise

And somehow I never saw through it but my REFLECTION did

My REFLECTION woke ME up from the daze,

Showed ME who I was

Helped me realize who I wanted to be

A knock

That was all it took
