Eyes shut, Amelia inhaled deeply. How did things get to this point? She was no leader. During social events she nestled herself into whatever hidden nook she could find. She was no battle hardened soldier. She blubbered over the dumbest of things - whether happy or sad. Yet, here she was playing hero.

She exhaled, then opened her eyes and gazed out over the enemy camp. No one else would step forward. No one else even thought to defend themselves. Normally, she would act the same, but she had this annoying habit of growing spontaneous courage when no one else was willing to take a stand.
