POEM STARTER

'We all look the same in the dark.'

Use this line as inspiration for a story or poem.

“We Are The Same, We Are One”

hope is lost for humanity in this flowing river of now.

people judge based simply off of what their eyes convey; what pleases the windows to their soul,

and not the spiritual being hidden underneath the flesh, blood and bone.

I defend, I debate, I argue, I persuade.

yet no action of mine can change mankind’s minds.

respect is decided, handed out to whom thought to deserve it.

to whom that meets biased and inequitable standards of beauty

to whom that has the most slips of green paper;

to whom that is a fair shade of skin.

disheartening, agonizing, nauseating; three words to best describe this.

why put yourself on a throne, when the earth is unowned?

why favor what allures you, and dismember what doesn’t, when you are not perfect on your own?

we all bleed shades of red, we all breathe O2,

we all have the same parts of body

yet you rip apart others, when they don’t look like you.

we humans of all variety are gathered in a room, like we have boarded Noah’s arc;

turn the lights off.

now how could you be biased and favor, when we all look the same in the dark?
