POEM STARTER

Write a poem casually and nonchalantly reflecting on a hugely important event.

What kind of language could portray this tone even when the content is important?

Why Would I Care?

So, I guess something happened

Something occurred while I was nappin’

‘Cause it seems that half of us are gone

Though it can’t of been for long

The world might be on fire

I’m not quite sure what transpired

The optimist says this is only a reverie

The pessimist cries the greatest tragedy in centuries

One promises ephemeral panic and peace to be restored

The others screams of “Who’s next?!” and “Lock your doors!”

You’d think it be quieter; with half of us gone

But it seems the world can’t move on

So while you cry in despair

I’ll just sit in my chair.
