Withering with the whispering wind,

Down she fell to the solid earth

Mother Nature did you send

Her just to sing a melancholy dirge

Each fall?

She’s proud of her colors

Changing each season

To light greens to emeralds

To reds and orange

And every hue

Of the autumn rainbow

Then down down she tumbles

Dead and frail

Her home barren and cold

As winter enters in

And she withers on the wind
