Why do roses have thorns?

Why does light make shadows?

Why does life create death?

Why does Beauty contain pain?

Beautiful things create jealousy

Jealousy creates pain

Pain leads to very violent things

Especially to those who are vain

Beauty has to protect itself

Create a kind of balance

Give itself a bad thing

To defend itself from malice

Nobody wants the thorn

No one wants the shadow

People avoid death

In all, its quite shallow

But thats just life

As strange as it is

The world will destroy you

Even as a kid

A little girl shouldn’t have to carry a taser

As a rose shouldn’t have to have thorns

The rain should be able to fall

Without causing a storm

But this is how it is

Though not how it should be

If only the beauty

Could learn to live free
