POEM STARTER

Write a poem about saying goodbye to someone who you are excited to see go.

How might you use poetic form to highlight the emotions of this usually sad scenario?

Bite Your Soft Serve

Swerving into the left lane

Left-handed,

You hook the block

Only to follow a string of pearls

Onto the highway.

I’m screaming, endanger me

All the while,

Across spilled soda seats puckering leather,

The front view mirror dangles in my face, out of grasp.

Hit the gas,

Clip a bumper and

Friday night car crash!

You mimick rubber tires,

Telling the receiver

You won’t be coming back.
