POEM STARTER

Life in Your Hands

Write a poem or short story about if you were death and had to choose each day who must die.

I Choose, You Don’t

I choose who leaves this world. It’s a tiresome job making sure everyone goes at the right time. Even a second before of later then the whole timeline could get messed up, and we all know that woukdnt end well. Today I’ll start with the baker, then an hour later his mother. After that I’ll take a day off.

I decide who leaves the ground. This job doesn’t make me happy I can’t control who has to go, it’s all set it stone I just follow along. You can’t blame me for taking what was rightfully mine from the start. You may curse or damn me, but I will still fulfill my duty.

I choose who leaves the universe. Some even do my job for me which I wish they wouldn’t. It’s not their fault they got to it before I could but I wish they held on a bit longer. They still had 30 years, and a famiky to create. Now I have to start over with a new world.

I’ll remind you every time I have too. it’s my job not yours, my list says you have a family to meet soon, maybe not birthed but adopted, maybe not skin but fur. Whichever family it is theyre waiting to meet you. If you did my job for me you wouldn’t get to meet them. And for the final time, I choose, you don’t.
