POEM STARTER

Start a poem with an onomatopoeia and end it with a different one.

An onomatopoeia is a word that mimics the sound of something such as bark, boom, or screech. These sounds can tell a story if used effectively!

A Reprieve

Splash

The water ripples around me and I’m

Submerged in everything and nothing

It’s quiet and the sun shines through

I surface and fill my lungs

I float letting the current

Take me anywhere but here

I hear bird songs and river serenades

Droplets running down my skin

Held and carried

Only to be left back on the land I left

I drag my feet back home

Need and Want calling my name

Drip

Drip

Drip
