Moonshine and Moonlight
Write a poem which centres on these words. How can you pair these similar words with very different meanings in a poem?
Light and Regret
The Moonlight is a beautiful thing, soft, aspirational, and high,
It's the light of a good future, held up against the sky.
It makes me think of my ideals, the supportive, thoughtful side,
The strong values and clear path where I choose to reside.
It's the light of deep reflection, the quiet, meaningful space,
Where I'd rather be than stuck at some superficial place.
It offers a clear direction, a structure I can trust.
It's everything my life balance aims for. Pure and not unjust.
Then there is the Moonshine, a nasty, illicit, sudden glare,
It's the stuff of bad ideas, fueled by a total lack of care.
It makes you forget the plan, ditch the team, and take a dive,
It's the fast track to the burnout where only the silly survive.
One is a beacon of sense, the other is an outright wreck.
You can value the light, but the spirit of chaos hits you in the neck.
I look at both of them shining, one cool and one very warm.
I’ll just stick to the Moonlight—it causes less of a storm.
