Write a Horatian ode to a fictional character that you admire.

Horatian odes are short lyrical poems that deal with themes of love and friendship. They are written in stanzas of 2 or 4 lines, with a consistent metrical pattern.

An Ode To Melanie Wilkes

There lay a rapture in the silken thread

Unveiled by dearth and war

Unbosomed as though a sword may gleam,

And salve upon the torn—


And as the fires wane for none

And iron all the frail—

The holy tigress stands with love;

Her sword a rosary
