Chapter 1

Whispers

Windows are closed

Curious Lily has it wide open

Though the wind was foreign

And the feeling was not barren

She went and opposed

The sun’s endeavor was resting

An ever glorious twilight

It’s light touching the evergreen

Its rumors forever deeming blight

No tales whatsoever returning

A whisper from a wisp

Dusk was still gleaming

Lily leaned out with caution

Clearing her vision

She made something of it

Derelict but intact

Frivolous yet curious

It was let inside

The dwelling promoting its majesty

Lily’s dark aura made it glow

An ocean blue color shone

A butterfly relinquishing its color

Her thoughts stormed with wonder

How can it be airborne?

What pain did evil condone?

It flew with ease

Never faltering

Never struggling

Never yielding

Never more did it clear the air

Instead cleared the dust as it settled

On the stack of Lily’s books next to a computer

Stories and logs of all legends foretold

As the light reflected upon Lily’s eyes

Her curious mind sparked brighter than the butterfly’s

And the fireflies that provided warmth and solace

All nestled on her balcony

“Never more am I a novice to this mythology”

Never yielding

Never stumbling

Never faltering

Lily approached with ease

With her fine lungs and throat

She asked politely and softly

Reaching out slightly

With her slim arms and hands

“You’re hurt, what’s scathed you?”

It appeared to understand

Their wings waving gracefully

Then sporadically

The size was as big as a baseball

It rather made it’s withdrawal

No gesture for company

A breeze sang as it synced

Lily yearned following its silence

A controversial instinct

Yet she pursued undeterred

The glaring star now set

Two horizons are fading away

Endless and Timeless they portray

The evergreens expel the sight of a seer

Where bark and moss amass

Lily departed from comfort unopposed

Embracing the evening requiem

The moonlight composing dawn

As the autumn winds chanted

Her window closed
