WRITING OBSTACLE
If there was an 8th deadly sin, what would it be?
Write a descriptive paragraph about this sin.
The Great Sin
The 8th, and most deadliest sin, is authority. Though it conceals itself behind a dense surface of reasonable justice, it excuses the behavior of those who claim to be chosen by merit, success, and the wealth that never seems to favor the disenfranchised. It is because they never work hard _enough_. They can _never_ work hard _enough_. Among the ranks of those who could feed millions and politicans whose interest somehow never aligns with the people they represent, the worshippers of authority declare that some individuals are more fit to make decisions than many others: the same statement shared by monarchs of brutish ages, dictators that began wars with a wave of the wrist, and fanatics that believed some people were inherently inferior.
I am not saying there is no place for deliberately balanced authority, just as there are slothful sundays and salacious invitations from passionate partners; but I do argue that the keys of power be safeguarded from those who have interests that do not align with the good of all, which are becoming increasingly common in a world of authority.
