Pain makes me seek a refuge,

It makes me want to curl up and hide.

The constant pain crushes me,

With every breath I take my world shrinks.

I can no longer enjoy the simple things in life.

Pain makes me seek refuge,

I no longer have many friends,

And those who stick around look to me in pity.

My only comfort comes from medications,

And from the darkness of my room.

The only place I can cry without those pity eyes.

Pain makes me seek refuge,

But no one understands my need to hide

No one understands and maybe it’s for the best

If no one understands I can keep hiding.

I can keep hiding in my mind and wonder

What it’s like to be normal.

Pain makes me seek refuge and that’s where I find peace.
