The Rage Moons
Asmei gazed at the vast evening sky thoughtfully. After four years, it was still astounding. Four years since the elders were sent visions from the rage God. Most of the world was beyond such archaic religions, but the growing Verisian sect still believed in the old text. They believed that no matter how advanced the world became with technology and science, the scrolls remained the foremost authority on life and future events. The Verisian sect was free from scandal, but it didn't stop the influencers, Podcasters, and online pundits from picking the religion apart. They said the sect was naive in their belief in the rage God and the prophecy that was foretold. Of the entire collection of ancient manuscripts about the rage God, the one prophecy that everyone focused on was the Planet Corrosion prophecy. The prophecy described the rage God's loss of influence on the masses and his plan to awaken the world to its existence by the creation of an interstellar phenomenon. Even after the elders reported their visions to the world, the critics continued their assault. It wasn't until the 25th of June, when the world heard a vast roar and witnessed a blackening of the sky that the critics lost all words. This event was followed by the Great Slumber, in which all of the inhabitants fell into a sleep filled with the same visions that appeared to the elders. Upon waking, everyone looked up to the sky to find the emergence of two moons. Four years and no word from the elders. As Asmei looked up at the two moons, she felt a cool breeze encircle her and whip at her hair. What will the future bring, she wondered, as she stood to return home.
