POEM STARTER
"“What did you do?”
Write a poem that incorporates this question three times.
Choose any theme you’d like, as long as you use repetition to create an interesting effect.
What Did You Do?
The words cut deep, sharper then a blade.
“Freak” they shouted while she walked down the halls
Murmurs and whispers
Click and clack
“Stupid ugly tramp” day after day, she couldn’t get away.
You watched your own friend fade away
While isults continued to come her way.
You saw the dried blood going up her wrists.
But a simple “are you okay” was never once asked.
What did you do?
You joined the whispers
Adding eyes to the stares.
Every bit of betrayal you saw it flash.
While you watched a crowd full of people,
Painting her black and blue.
What did you do?
You pulled out your phone and hit record
Laughing behind the camera,
Adding rumours to the flames.
You watched as she got up crying, she walked away.
Her small snuffles fading with her.
She went home and locked her door.
Slice after slice.
Her skin left torn.
She walked to the cupboard,
She opened the door.
She couldn’t do it anymore,
Pill after pill.
She took more and more.
