POEM STARTER

Write a poem about fate.

Whether you believe in fate or not, consider the many aspects of the notion, and see what you want to write about most.

Two Sides of the Same Coin

fate and time are two sides of the same coin,

they never stop.

no matter how much you beg and plead,

they never stop.

you can always hear their tick-tick-ticking, even when it feels like you're out in the ocean,

the riptide has pulled you under

and wave after wave

after wave

after wave

...after wave

......after wave

you can never pull yourself back up to take a breath.

if you struggle against it,

it makes you all the more tired

and makes it more difficult to fight

you may get a piece of drift wood to float on,

but it will crumble into pieces eventually,

whether it takes seconds or days

you may see a boat and call out,

but they never see you,

and somehow its always dark.

but you can still hear their tick-tick-ticking, and it gives you hope.

the belief that one day the drift wood will never crumble,

the waves will be peaceful,

and the boat hears you call out against the wind that pushes your voice back;

it gives you hope to not let yourself fall under and let yourself drown.

but you can still hear their tick-tick-ticking.
