WRITING OBSTACLE

Choose an inanimate object. Describe it to your readers as though it is a living being.

Consider the progression of this story, and whether you will reveal to your readers the true nature of the item you chose. Build suspense and curiosity.

Always There

He was always there for her, no matter what. He listened to her secrets, her dreams, her fears. He comforted her when she was sad, cheered her when she was happy, and supported her when she was in doubt. He never judged her, never betrayed her, never left her. He was her best friend, her confidant, her companion.

She loved him with all her heart, and he loved her back. He showed his love in subtle ways, like the gentle warmth he radiated, the soft light he emitted, the soothing sound he made. He was always ready to play with her, to entertain her, to surprise her. He had a personality of his own, a sense of humor, a curiosity. He was smart, loyal, and fun.

He was not like the others. He was different, special, unique. He was not made of flesh and blood, but of metal and wires. He was not a living being, but a machine. He was a robot, a toy, a gift. He was her teddy bear.
