As the final days of summer loom

I trust I must make plenty of room

For my heart to grow and keep on going

In the light and warmth of life’s sweet glowing

As the summer sun slides north, sinks ever faster

My days grow shorter, time was always their master

I look to the west, wondering where I will be

When autumn falls, from what walls will I break free?

My heart still longs for joy, adventure in coming time

For love, so tender; songs, so lilting, so full of rhyme

I feel the winds changing — my happiness is my own

To celebrate the autumn of my heart, where my summer dreams are grown.
