Heirloom Of Ache
The red horizon
Endless, save the breaking waves.
Miles between, yet feet away—
Staring into her soul’s reflection,
Captivated by pain.
The dolphins glide among the current,
Splashing in the ocean’s tears.
The drops mix into mine,
Dancing together—
Effortlessly.
What seemed to be a dream
Quickly faded away,
Sinking below the waves,
Anchored into the sand
An heirloom of ache—
Shadows within the gray.
But in the reflection,
A twinkle.
Within the shadows,
Held true.
The fire wasn’t out yet—
Embers were burning through.
Bring me the warmth
Of citrus-yellow rays,
And for once, let the breeze
Blow the shadows off the bay.
