“Am I being selfish?” Rick keeps asking himself. “I can’t be, right?” continuing his inner monologue. Rick begins pacing around the room. “I’m doing this for my future and hopefully creating a financially stable future too. I mean he would benefit from this too. I hope. I just hate that my choice has me moving across the country. I’m truly a bad person for this aren’t I?” Rick drops in his chair feeling defeated. “I need to do this! I mean this is a good thing! I’ll have a second degree, career, and I can call him still” Rick says outloud trying to reassure himself about his decision. “Though, I’ll be losing time and I won’t be there for him like I want” Rick reminds himself. Rick is experiencing a mix of emotions as he processes the news of being accepted into his grad program. He’ll have to leave his family, friends and especially his godson. The one person he feels genuine unapologetic love for. This kids makes his day every he sees him. Due to this, his move and getting in his master’s program is his worst best news/decision he’s had.
