POEM STARTER
Write a poem that only involves dialogue.
Remember dialogue has to be between two or more people; it cannot be a monologue. Try to make it clear which voice is speaking when.
The Selfish Moon
“Are you okay?” The sun asked the moon, then disappeared.
“No. You have just faded. Faded before I got to tell you. This happens every night.” the moon replied to the empty silence.
“It's okay. I'll listen. Are you okay?” The stars asked.
“No. You are too complicated to understand. There are too many of you.” The stars faded with the sun.
“There is not as much of me. I can listen!” the ocean said.
“No. You are too salty. You will make me sadder.” The ocean left as the snow came.
“We are perfect! White and moonlight! Are you okay now?”
“No. You are too cold. At least the sun warmed me.” The moon replied.
“Then go back to the sun, if that's who you love.”
“I don't love the sun, I love the warmth. I don't love the stars, I love the light. I don't love the ocean, I love the feeling. And I don't love you, I love our beauty.” The moon told the snow.
“Then i can't give you what you want.” and the snow left with the others.
“I love you.” the human told the moon.
“You are too small.” the moon replied.
“But I am warm. And bright, and I flow and feel, and together, we are beautiful.”
“It's too complicated too work.”
“Love is not complicated if it is true. Needs are. You only need the sun and the ocean and the snow and stars. You don't love them.” The human said.
“Maybe you are right. Well then, go, like the others.” the moon admitted.
“No, you are selfish, but you are beautiful. I will stay.”
