Fighting with You

I stare at him, a fire blazing like nothing I’ve ever seen before. We both draw our swords while maintaining eye contact that was so sharp it could cut paper. I take the first strike hoping this battle could end quicker, for a moment I thought that was what I wanted. I wanted to see the pain in those hateful, dark eyes and enjoy it. I needed to. He dodged and takes a step back. I swing again but this time I stop. My knife to his throat ready to finish what I started. Yet I pause. The warmth of his rushed breath against my face and the way I could count every single golden flaked freckle on his face. He kneels to the ground dropping his sword in surrender. Then props up against a tree. “If killing me is what you desire then do it but for each breath I take until my last, remember that I will always love you. This war between our families means nothing to me and if you feel the same you should know it means nothing too.” he says with deep compassion. I raise my knife in the air but stop and throw it aside. I thought I needed this but all I really need was him. From the day I met him in the forest to now I loved him and now I know I forever will even if I don’t want to. I dropped on my knees in front of him and I watch. The way his dirty blonde hair flows more to the right than the left and the little scar above his eyebrow from our first encounter. He leans closer brushing a strand of hair off my sweaty face. Then our lips collide finally fighting for dominance. He eases back into the tree more as I move and position myself on his lap. He groans as I bite his lip but he doesn’t stop. Afterwards we are laying on the ground breathing heavily. I look over to my left to see my sister standing behind a tree wide eyed. She then turns and runs back to our kingdom. I knew exactly what she was doing and I couldn’t let her tell my father but for a minute more I lay here next to my nemesis I’ve fallen madly in love with. Which I’m glad to finally say.
