Echoes of the Crimson Regime

“Echoes of the Crimson Regime: The Last Seconds Before the Fall”

By Raya Jones

Introduction:

We are at war. Hitler wants to take over everywhere. Austria has just fallen to his rule. He is trying to purify races by spreading the lie that every other race is inferior to the Germans. The Inferior races include African Americans, Roma people, and Jews. America is fighting back, but at what cost? How high is a price too high to pay? That flew out the window the second they started fighting this war. The price paid was one that would not yet soon be forgotten.

Prologue:

I never in a million years would have thought I’d be capable of doing anything as vile as this. The sickening feeling of loneliness, and the deafening silence of guilt. My heart grew heavy, and my legs grew weak.

“Soldier. Are you alright?” asked General Ambrose.

“Fine, Sir.” I replied. General Ambrose looked at me suspiciously, but he seemed to believe me, for now at least. I walk alone to the bunks. No one is there right now and it seemed like the perfect place to be alone. I sat down on my bunk with my head in my hands, after sitting like that for what felt like forever, I started to head back out so that I could get back to training. A couple of my fellow army men saw me and waved. I walked out of the bunks and got to work. While I was working I saw one of the privates. He walked up to me and said,

“Solider,” said the private, “We need you for a moment.”

“Yes sir.” I replied,I knew better than to ask what for, and I definitely had no idea what I was signing up for, because what I signed up for would change the world…Forever. They didn’t tell me anything about what I was signing up for, they just said it would change the course of the war. They led me into a dark corridor, and knocked me out with some sort of shot. When I woke up my vision was fuzzy, I couldn’t remember what had just happened; I had no idea that they were planning something; something big. Something that would change history and possibly the world as we know it.

“Where am I?” No reply, just people walking around with white coats and samples. I looked down and noticed a small drop of blood on my arm. “What are you doing to me?!” I screamed. I was terrified. One of the generals walked up to me and said,

“Whatever experiments we want to do,” he motioned to a nearby scientist to come over. “Make our…guest comfortable,” he said. I looked down and my hands and feet were bound to the chair and I looked back at the general.

“Sir, wait!” I started panicking, “What’s gonna happen to me!?” I screamed. No one answered. Then….Nothing.

Chapter One: The Experiment

I blacked out again. Probably from yelling and flailing to the best of my ability. Or the fact that they could have drugged me again. When I was fully awake I decided to look around, trying not to panic. I tried to break the restraints but failed. I tried to move the chair, but it was chained to the floor. What could have led to this that they take their own soldiers, men and women, that they treat them like lab rats, guinea pigs or dogs? I wish I knew. And soon, I would.

“Where am I?” I asked, “I demand to know.”

“You are in no position to make any demands here, soldier.” Said Lieutenant Bishop. I simply ignored him and tried to break my restraints once again. Grunting and groaning all the while, I made no progress in breaking the steel restraints. The chair creaked and squeaked as I tried to get out of it. The scientist laughed at my pathetic attempts to get out. They mocked and scorned me for trying. Like they wanted me to just give up and accept defeat.
