"Let’s skip the pleasantries, shall we? You and I both know we’re not here for small talk.”
Write a story that includes this line of speech.
The Single Queen
'My Queen?' A guard states as he enters the war room.
'Yes Captain Kora?' I question.
"The Lord of the North is here to see you' The guard responds. I groan under my breath and mutter
'That bastard' I sigh and wave my hand
'Let him in'. I use my hands to gently smooth my long dress and to brush imaginary dust to the floor.
I look up again when I hear the grand doors at the entrance of my war room being pushed open.
'Queen Isabella! How good to-' I cut the Lord off.
'Come now Lord Saluma; Let's skip the pleasantries, shall we? You and I both know you're not here for small talk' I state glaring at the Lord as he chuckles
'Straight to the point as always Isabell-' I cut Lord Saluma off
'It is QUEEN Isabella to you Lord Saluma' I almost yell, my rage filling my voice. I take a deep breath to calm myself before I ask Lord Saluma a question
'Why are you here? What news do you bring?'. Lord Saluma chuckles before responding
'To ask you to marry me of course'. My eyes widen as he lowers himself to the ground on one knee and pulls a small ornate box out of his pocket. He opens his mouth to say something but i do not allow him to. I rush out of my throne towards him and slap him hard on the cheek.
'No.' I say shortly before yelling,
'GUARDS!'. My personal guard rush in ready for battle, clearly not expecting to see me unharmed with a crestfallen Lord at my feet.
'Please escort Lord Saluma out of Vallen, he is no longer welcome here.' Captain Kora nods, grabs the lump that is Lord Saluma and drags him from the room.
As soon as the grand doors of the war room slam shut I sigh deeply and make my way back to my throne. I sit in my sit and rub the bridge of my nose and utter a single word that drips with annoyance,
'Men'.
