Write a Tanka that focuses on the theme of new relationships.
A Tanka is a short form of poetry with 5 lines; 5 syllables in the first line, then 7, then 5, then 7, and 7 in the last (5,7,5,7,7).
our souls dance all night
my heart whispers, stay with me
pull me closer dear
fingers run along smooth skin
finally, i’ve found the one
I love it! Each word had a purpose and really did paint a picture. I can see your words, if that makes any sense.
The imagery in this was amazing!! The details were just enough to make us really “feel” with the characters in the poem without being too extraneous. I only have one thing— to me “dear” sounds more motherly than something that would be said between 2 lovers, and I feel like it could be taken out (but again that’s just a personal opinion, it’s good with too!) Overall beautiful poem, really well done! 👏👏
