Nothing more,
Nothing less.
Gambled on life’s changing chance
Found naught but red,
Addicted and alone
Another token thrown.
Who’d want to stay
When everything goes away?
Cards scattered from the deck
By foul hand clean.
Another shot
Bitter river
Tears of salt
Does nothing halt?
Green velvet bizarre
Runs circles too far
Vacant table,
Empty minds.
Rough echoes blur
Behind mortal light,
Jump shaken glass, jump
Rattled absurd; icy lump.
Here lain bare
All without a care,
Tightly caged
Given up the fight.
Nothing less,
Nothing more.
