POEM STARTER
'It’s all fun and games until someone gets hurt.'
Using this common saying as inspiration, write a poem about something that was meant to be good going wrong.
The Friendly Fire
My initiative spark lit a bonfire of "help,"
I saw your dull routine and let out a Yelp.
I swore I was a beacon, bringing the light,
But my intense enthusiasm just filled you with fright.
"It's all fun and games," I declared, tearing things down,
"Until someone gets hurt"—you wore a sharp frown.
My overwhelming good turned into a mess.
I caused the disaster, I must confess.
Now I burnout alone, having made your joy stifle.
My big ideas are just a benevolent rifle.
