I opened my eyes.

The alarm clock blaring,

Pulling me from sleep,

Pushing me into the day,

I opened my eyes.

As I looked in the mirror

A sparkle glimmered within my eyes,

I smiled with hope of a new beginning,

A rising confidence surging over me,

I opened my eyes.

Pulling on my beat-up trainers,

Stepping into the cool morning air,

Hearing the birds sing from the trees,

I was energised, excited, eager to see what the day may hold,

I opened my eyes.

Running into the sunrise I felt a high that filled the hole,

An awakening rose inside of me as I opened my eyes.

I had woken up that morning,

Like every day before,

But finding a new lease of life;

Making my days count,

Had opened my eyes.
