POEM STARTER

Submitted by Robin Marlowe

Write a poem about unseasonable weather. e.g. A warm day in the winter, or snow in the summer.

Snow In August

It is now August,

And what do I see?

Trees without leaves,

Looking down at me.

Snow is on the ground,

And flurries in the air,

It lands on the rooftops,

And drifts onto my hair.

Yet the sun is hot,

And not a cloud is seen,

And yet there is still ice,

Floating in the stream.

The ground is covered in thick white snow,

The bears and squirrels do sleep.

And yet it is still summer,

And out are the buzzing bees.

No one knows how this has happened,

No one can even guess.

Perhaps it’s because our savior,

Is about to come again.

Maybe it’s almost time,

Maybe the end is near.

Maybe soon I’ll see him,

And hear his voice, loud and clear.

Or perhaps it’s just a dream,

Maybe a fantasy.

Maybe I will wake up soon,

And lay in bed and read.

But whatever the reason,

I know God’s in control.

Because He is the King of Kings,

And is forever faithful.
