The Burden Of Memory
The thought sends a shiver down my spine, aching down my body, the start of a neverending fever. The everlasting chills that cause my body to go stiff as my mind reels and tries to heal from the image of you. It tears and eats away at the soul, leaving nothing but a dark hole. The hole that held the most sacred times, clouded by the judgement of one’s troubled mind. My chest tightens from the anguished recollection and reflection of the past, hoping this feeling won’t last. Every moment bringing me back to the same place, my mind stuck, catatonic, the memory of your face, unwavering and clear. Wanting to put that memory away, locked in a box on the top shelf of a bookcase, untouched and forgotten. The breath of ease as the torment of my mind diminishes and the memory of you finally flees.
