WRITING OBSTACLE

You can feel someone watching you, but you can't see them anywhere.

Describe this feeling in less than 500 words, using vivid and visceral language to make your reader connect with the character being watched.

The Eyes Are Listening

There is no escape.

No matter where I go, they watch. I don’t know where, I don’t know who, but something is watching.

I’ve tried to find from where. The TV? The security cameras? The trees? No matter where I look, I see no one. But there’s definitely something somewhere. It’s a surreal feeling. I can’t quite put a finger on it. Sometimes, out of the corner of my eye, I think I see something. I always think, “is this the thing watching me? It must be. I’ll catch it this time, definitely.” But I never see it. It disappears every time.

I’m sick of it.

Sick of the suspenseful emptiness that I feel when I can’t find who’s watching.

No, not just watching. They’re listening too. The eyes have ears as well. The eyes are also listening.

I’m in the supermarket, and I feel the eyes again. I want them to leave.

“Go away!” I shout. “Leave me alone!”

The people in the market stop and stare. I don’t care if they’re judging, I just want the eyes to go away.

I don’t feel them anymore. Does that mean if I yell at them, they go away?

I slouch onto my couch, and turn on the television. I see something in the corner of my eye. Then I feel the eyes again.

“I said go!”

This time, they don’t leave. I shout at them again. They remain there. If I ignore them, they should leave eventually…. right?

It’s been twenty-six hours. I still feel the eyes on me. I think I made a mistake by yelling at them.

How do I get rid of them?

Can anyone help me?
